About us

Mike Martinez is a second-generation roofer with over 18 years roofing experience. As a child, Mike had the privilege of being surrounded by successful entrepreneurs. His father, Nester Martinez, owned his own Construction Company, NM Construction. Mike’s mother, Cecilia Martinez also owned her own appraisal Company, 

Mike’s father started teaching him about construction and roofing at a young age. By age ten, Mike was fetching tools and soaking up all the building knowledge and advice his father gave him. Because of this, Mike learned the ins and outs of home construction, and was exposed to every detail of home building from start to finish. Nester Martinez specialized in roofing, so Mike has completed thousands of roofing projects over multiple decades with his father. 

Mike opened his first business, NM Custom Home Design, when he was still in College, and designed multi-million dollar homes for various contractors in the Albuquerque area. After graduation from UNM with a degree in Architecture, and after obtaining his Associates Degree from CNM in Engineering, Mike started working in Taos, NM at Living Designs Architecture Firm. While there, Mike had the pleasure of working on many large projects including Hotels and Car Dealerships. 

Mike’s current Company, Sturdy Construction, was founded in 2016, and specializes in roof insulation systems. His goal  is to make homes in Northern New Mexico more efficient and comfortable. Mike’s father has recently retired, but does occasionally help his son on various projects. His Company lasted 36 years, and Mike is excited to carry on his Father’s legacy by offering exceptional services and products at fair prices to his community.
